TimeOut: What Are You Thankful For? 🙏
The Only Thing That Matters When Your World is Falling Apart. đź‘‘
It’s Thanksgiving time. I love the food, the family, the weather—but the real celebration is about choosing gratitude.
The last couple of years have been a real war for the Poulson—Stready family. In many aspects, we’re still in the middle of some of some of that. But I’m telling you what: there is SO much to be thankful for. We have to focus on listing what is right and celebrating what God has done.
Buddy’s Story: From Stage 4 to Healthy
My brother, Buddy, is just amazingly well. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 bone cancer in 98% of his bones—and he’s healthy! He’s getting no treatment now. Come on! During his whole cancer treatment, he built his entire house by himself. He is back to work. We still have to get the final test to see if the cancer is completely gone, but it doesn’t even matter—what matters is that he’s here, he’s alive, and he’s healthy!
That is just one thing! My father had back surgery, and he’s doing much better. My brother Curtis has lost 100 pounds. These are all good things. And those are just some of them!
The Mandate of Gratitude
I could list all the things that aren’t right in my family. Sometimes there’s nothing you can tangibly see that’s really good in your life. I’ve felt that way this year, and for me, that’s very unusual. But you know what? It’s not the truth.
Even when things are terrible—your marriage is in trouble, your health is not well—the God of the entire universe loves you and has made provision to see you through all of this. The question is always: Will you hold on to Him? Will you trust what He’s saying instead of what you’re seeing or what you’re feeling?
Nobody said it was going to be easy all the time, but there are always good things to look at. Look at those things. Focus on that. Even when it doesn’t make sense, you have to discipline yourself to say, “I’m going to be thankful anyway.”
Spend your day today focusing on them. I’m thankful for you!
Love you guys and I hope you have a fantastic Thanksgiving.
