The Trench Reality:
Joy Holds the Line in Grief
There is a massive difference between happiness and joy. Happiness comes from feelings and circumstances. If you rely on your circumstances to make you happy, profound loss will absolutely destroy you. But joy holds the line even when everything falls apart. Right in the middle of this grief and horror, you have to hold onto joy because of who God is and what He is capable of doing.
God’s plan works, and you do not get where you are going unless you continue. Even in the middle of the pain, the mission does not stop because the objective truth remains the same.
The Command: When you are overwhelmed, freaked out, and hurting, you cannot manufacture peace on your own. You have to turn it over to Him so He can give you what you need to keep going. If you do not have joy, ask Jesus for it.
