TimeOut: Where’s the Grace 🦁

There isn’t enough of it.

Hey there. Today I want to talk about grace, because there just is not enough of it in the world.

We are not gracious to other people. We are forever saying what they should be doing, or wondering why they didn’t do something else, and saying, “I can’t understand this or that.”

It’s as if we should be the ones who get to understand it for it to make sense. But your way is whacked out too, and it doesn’t make sense to other people either.

Grace is an Undeserved Gift

None of our ways make sense to God because we are messy. We are sinful.

“Grace is loving someone anyway. It’s unmerited favor, which means an undeserved gift.”

You aren’t going to give this to someone because they deserve it. You do it because you want to show kindness and show grace in a situation where they haven’t earned it. If it weren’t for grace, we wouldn’t have squat!

You Get Back What You Give Out

When someone slams on the horn at you because you got in their way, instead of yelling or flipping them off, say, “I am so sorry, please forgive me.” Let that be your attitude.

Be the person who says, “Oh man, I didn’t see you there, I’m sorry.” I never blow the horn. You know why? Because people could have blown the horn at me a million times in life.

Think of my poor parents and the hell I put them through for 28 years. Not knowing where I was sleeping, or if I was going to overdose. That is a horrible way to live, but they loved me anyway. They weren’t always kind in certain situations, but they showed love to me, and I always knew if I wanted something different, it was available.

That is what got me through it and made me the kind of person who can give grace to other people. If you aren’t getting enough grace, maybe you aren’t giving enough grace.

Work on that this week. Love you guys,
– Texas 🦁
