TimeOut: A New Way To Worship 🌱
It’s Springtime!
Hey, it’s springtime! I changed my stuff up—I’ve got my bright white and green on, and my little flowers are all changed. I love springtime because the sun is out, everything is bright, and everybody’s lawn is nice and green.
But springtime also represents change and new life developing. And to get to a place where we have new life, we have to get rid of some old junk. There is only so much space in your head, in your heart, and in your life. If you have things that shouldn’t be there, you won’t have room to fill it with what you should be filling it with.
A New Way to Fast
I heard a great message this morning about fasting. Nobody wants to hear about fasting! We think, “We need food, why should we give that up?” It’s a sacrifice, and we often don’t want to pay the price.
“Fasting is actually saying no to anything that would be more important than God.”
That could be your children. It could be your coffee. There are people who say, “I won’t even talk to somebody before I’ve had my first cup of coffee!” That means coffee is the most important thing in your morning. It is separating you from important people and things you need to accomplish.
An Act of Worship
I challenge you this month: Say no to the things you are used to. Say no to the things that are comfortable. Say no to the “little G gods” that are on the throne of your life.
As soon as you say “no” to that thing, purposefully put God in that place. Start singing praise and worship. Start counting all the things God has blessed you with—your fingers, your toes, your eyelashes! There is so much to be grateful for.
Spend some time disciplining yourself to make that thing less important, because that is an act of worship. God in heaven will say, “Yes! I love when she makes Me more important than whatever.”
Love you guys,
