TimeOut: What Will You Choose? ✨

Easter Gives Us a Choice

What will you choose? That is today’s talk, because it is Easter. I don’t know if you realize this, but Easter is what gives us a choice.

Prior to Easter, there was no choice. We were a lost and dying world that was trapped in sin. There was no help and no hope. There were just some laws and some rituals that made things better, and that is what religion is now—just laws and rules.

I am not an anti-religious person in some ways, but in other ways, I very much am. When you think of Easter and that Jesus rose from the dead, you have to remember that it was the Pharisees and the Sadducees—the religious people—who crucified Him. That tells you that religion can be a real problem when we get caught up in the rules and lose sight of the truth.

You Get to Choose Now

We get to choose now. Because of Easter, we have a choice. But boy, you have to choose wisely.

We have a choice in all kinds of things, but the things we do not recognize as choices are our choices. We think of fear as a feeling. We think of heaviness, sadness, despair, and victory as feelings. But many of those things are actually choices.

God has already told us what we have and what we are afforded in Christ. Now, we have the choice to stand in that, to walk in that, and to believe that—or not.

Leave Your Feelings There

It is not a feeling, because many times you are going to be in a season that feels hard, heavy, and depressing. You might feel like you are never going to win. But succeeding is just being in the process of getting to the successful part.

“You take your feelings before the Lord and you say, ‘Look, this is how I’m feeling. You suck. I don’t like how things are going.’… But you’re gonna leave them there. You’re gonna choose to then be content.”

Trusting God anyway is what faith looks like. We can get so overwhelmed by stuff that doesn’t even matter in the eternal perspective. So make the choice to stand up and believe the truth, even when you don’t feel it.

Easter is about the ability to choose. So choose well. Have a great Easter.

Love you guys,
– Texas ✨
